Food is not merely for filling that hole in your stomach! It has also certain effects on your physical, emotional and mental health. Vegetables, grains and herbs not only provide vitamins and minerals, but prepared in the correct way, can bring out the best in you and your family. And…don’t forget the importance of the cooks attitude. Passion, love and healing are all ingredients important in food preparation. Over the weekend you will practise all this with one breakfast, two lunches and one dinner. You will also go home with lots of new ideas and inspiration and of course recipes. Throughout the course, smells of freshly baked bread will engulf you at times….. You will learn how to bake various types of breads and scones. The weekend also offers the opportunity to learn how to bake tasty dietary breads such as gluten, dairy and yeast free breads. Just tell us on the day or in advance what your interests are! The other item we always include in the course is: SOUP. Soup is a very personal dish. The types and styles are various, ranging from a soup that fills you for a day, to one that just ‘tickles your tongue’. In this weekend we will go through the process of creating different soups and your own personal soup, getting inspired, sharing and learning from each other. Lomi Lomi Nui is an ancient bodywork of Hawai'i designed to wake up the cellular intelligence of the body. The recipient receives a holistic massage of long flowing strokes, deep work and joint manipulation within a deeply sacred context. This ancient, shamanic practice contacts and re-aligns the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies, creating quantum leaps in our ability to navigate all aspects of life in harmony with our deepest self. Training in this sacred art begins with our own journey of awareness into the physical body unlocking old patterning, blockage and trauma to allow a fuller and more open flow throughout our being. Training in this sacred form allows for renewed alignment on all levels and will transform your bodywork practice as well as every area of your life. Embracing the unique and empowering work of Lomi Lomi Nui is a transformational experience for bodyworkers and novices alike. Foundational and intermediate Lomi Lomi technique included. HOT STONE CERTIFICATE COURSE 2 weekend workshops Dates TBC or by appointment for group of 4 students, call for information. Hot stone massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated stones, either as an extension of their own hands, or by placing them on the body while they massage other parts of the body. The heat can be both deeply relaxing and help warm up tight muscles so the therapist can work more deeply, more quickly. The Origins of Hot Stone Massage Hot stones warmed by fire were used by Native Americans to treat aching muscles, but the modern revival of hot stones in massage is generally credited to Mary Nelson, a native of Tucson, Arizona. She trademarked her style of hot stone massage, called La Stone Therapy which has a Native American spiritual component and requires training and certification. Most spas offer their own versions of hot stone massage. A hot stone massage, however, takes a lot of skill and sensitivity on the part of the therapist. The quality of the treatment depends on how well the therapist has been trained, how skilled he or she is, and whether he or she enjoys doing the treatment. Some therapists don't like to do it because the hot stones are difficult to handle. For this reason training in one weekend is not an option at Hagal Holistic Health, the training takes place over 2 weekend workshops, the minimum time required to get really comfortable and skilled with handling the stones. What Happens During a Hot Stone Massage? Before the treatment, the massage therapist sanitizes the stones and heats them in bath of 120 to 150 degree water. The stones themselves are usually basalt, a black volcanic rock that absorbs and retains heat well, and have been smoothed by natural forces in the river or sea. The therapist places some heated stones on different positions of the body, physical tension points as well as energetic Chakra points: We leave heated stones in specific points along the spine, in the palms of the hand, on the belly, or even between the toes to improve the flow of energy in your body. In the meantime other parts of the body are massaged with the therapist holding heated stones. As the stones cools, the therapist replaces them with others. Stones of various shapes and sizes are used, big ones on the big muscles, smaller ones on smaller muscles.
